Announcement of Faculty Position (Science and Engineering Literacy - 201002)

1. Affiliation:  Faculty of Systems Information Science

2. Open Position:  Professor or Associate Professor (One person)

3. Specialized fields: Any of the following
(1) Literacy Education (Science Literacy, Statistical Data Literacy, Science Writing, Academic Writing, etc.)
(2) Communication, Media Studies (Science Communication, Educational Technologies/ IT-media enhanced Education,
      Social Media Studies/Social Informatics, etc.)

4. Subjects to be Taught:
Several from the following (basically 2 from a-category including “Science and Technology Literacy”,
and 2or 3 from b-category)
a. (basic subjects for the 1st year students) Science and Technology Literacy,  Introduction to Information System
    (Computer Literacy), Introduction to Information Expression, Basic of Information Expression 1, Mathematical Practice
b. (liberal arts subjects) Computer and Education, Media Studies, Basic Strategies to the Network Economy,
    Entrepreneur Activities, Engineering Ethics, Law and Science/Engineering, History and Philosophy of Science,
    Communication Theory, Contemporary Sciences, Information Media Society

5. Eligibility:
・Applicants must show excellent research achievements or excellent educational achievements
  in the above mentioned fields.
・Applicants are expected to have enthusiasm for not only research and education but also faculty development,
  committee activities and community engagement.
・Applicants are expected to have linguistic fluency both in English and Japanese for daily conversation level or above.
・Those who apply for professor position are expected to have a Doctorate or equivalent plus teaching experience
  in one or several of the subjects listed or similar to those above.

7. Documents to be Submitted: (in either English or Japanese)
(Application form is available to be downloaded from the University Homepage.)
(1) Resume: Please use the designated resume form.
(2) Outline of achievements: For the academic achievements, please use the designated form.
      The list is to be categorized such as “refereed papers in academic journals”,
      “refereed papers in conference proceedings”, “refereed oral presentations” and “others”.
      For those who apply for the position based on his/her educational achievements,
      please submit the detailed record of the educational activities/results with the verifiable documents
      or portfolio to show the eligibility.
(3) Reprints or clear copies of 2 or 3 major publications
(4) Summary of research or educational activities and the plans for the future
     (within 2 pages of A4 sized paper in length)
(5) A brief explanation of how you would develop a “social contract” between Future University and the community
     (within 2 pages of A4 sized paper in length)
(6) List of 2 referees including their names, workplaces, positions, contact address
     (postal address, phone number(s), and e-mail(s)), and relationship with the applicant
