Announcement of Faculty Position (Complex System Application - 201006)

1. Affiliation: Department of Complex and Intelligent Systems, School of Systems Information Science

2. Open Position (One person): Research Associate (Five-year contract; Please refer to Note1 for details.)

3. Field of Specialization: Complex System Application
(Financial Engineering, Financial Simulation, Complex Systems Engineering, etc.)

4. Subjects to be Taught:
Applicants must be able to be in charge of: Mathematics Practice; Information Processing Practice;
Introduction to Information Expression; and Basic Information Expression.
In addition, applicants must be able to be in charge of more than one of the following subjects:
Linear Algebra, Analysis, Information Mathematics, Data Structure and Algorithms. (Please refer to Note1)

5. Eligibility:
・Applicants must have or be expected to have a doctoral degree by the end of March 2011.
・Applicants must be enthusiastic about education and research in Complex System Application.

6. Starting Time of Employment: April 1, 2011 in principle

7. Documents to be Submitted: (in either English or Japanese)
(1) Resume (including attached photograph, current address, contact numbers (telephone and e-mail),
    academic history (up to high school graduation), employment history, research experiences,
    association(s) you belong to, degree(s), patent(s), and rewards and punishments)
(2) List of research achievements (such as research papers, publications, and vocational achievements (patents, etc.))
(3) Reprints or clear copies of 3 major publications (one for each)
(4) Educational achievements
(5) The outlines of your past research, and the future research plans (within 2 pages of A4 sized paper in length)
(6) Educational aspirations (1 page of A4 sized paper in length)
(7) List of 2 referees including their names, affiliations, contact addresses (postal address, phone number(s),
   and e-mail address(es))

The selection is made based on your past achievements and the comments of your referees if necessary.
Achievements are evaluated by the number of research papers published, contents of major achievements,
internal and external reputation, and industrial/technological contributions.

Note 1:  Future University Hakodate employs research associates under five-year contract.
However, if a person is considered to make excellent accomplishment during his/her term of office,
he/she may be promoted to an associate professor with unlimited term contract after his/her competence
in education is evaluated. He/she must be in charge of the lecture on either one of the four subjects listed
in “4. Subjects to be Taught” to be evaluated.
