Founding Philosophies
Fundamental philosophies for Future University – Hakodate aim to contribute to:
- the creation of a society in which humans and sciences co-exist in harmony;
- the fostering of creative human resources with deep intelligence and enriched humanness;
- the promotion of education, culture, and industry from an intellectual, cultural, and international base by collaborating with local communities.
During the latter half of the 20th century, computer and communication technologies progressed with amazing rapidity. As a result, people all over the world can connect to and work with each other almost instantaneously. We envisage Future University – Hakodate (FUN) as a key venue for fostering people with not only analytical and technological skills, but with individual expressiveness as well.
From a global point of view, FUN was originally conceived as an ideal location and environment for carrying out original and highly innovative research activities. Future University – Hakodate represents a new paradigm of Information University established with the goal of creating technologies for connecting people to people.
