General FUN Information

Education Strategies

At FUN the following educational methods are introduced.

1. Portfolio Creation

One fundamental of education is that the learner be fully aware and self-reflecting of his/her learning experience. To this end, we encourage all students to maintain a clear self-history and to be constantly self-aware. Students are required to record every aspect of their learning processes up until graduation. While in university, students continuously review, update, maintain and add value to their portfolios for future application in directing their lives.

2. Emphasis on Communication Skills

We emphasize the strengthening of skills and practical ability to convey one’s opinions to others. We consider that giving a presentation for others helps the student understand him/herself.

3. Project Learning

The Project Learning program was set up at FUN in such a way that all students with different standpoints can participate in, and ultimately affect others. Project Learning naturally generates situations in which students must carefully consider what kind of knowledge they need to acquire for accomplishing their goals. Students learn more from each other through Project Learning than from other types of classes.

Other than those above, we will explore various learning methods and try to foster students competent with flexibly responding to a constantly changing world without losing sight of who they are.

Note: What do we mean by portfolio?

Portfolio is defined here as the students’ records of learning process. In other words, it is the collection of students’ assignment works and reports from first year through to graduation.
