Held in conjunction with the 2nd International Service Innovation Design Conference 2010, Hakodate, Japan
1. Outline
Service design is the synthesizing innovation of values of people's activities and the society that consists of them.
We are organizing a hands-on workshop on envisioning social services and innovations with a "Visualization of Experience" technique. The workshop will be held in the same place and parallel with the main conference. Participants from all over the world will collaborate on expressive activities, giving performances based on their multicultural perspectives. This workshop also aims to construct a new style of design conferences, incorporating "expressions" rather than just "explanations."
The workshop will focus on the fields of "Public transportation" and "Markets." Participants will learn of and visualize the commonality and openness of existing services in these fields while practicing the Visualization of Experience technique including the following actions:
- Appreciating existing services in reality
- Collaboratively Visualizing the appreciation
- Extracting the ontology of the services from the recipient's point of view through the visualization
- Creating potential spaces for people's actions and concerns with the ontology of the services
We hope you will join us in learning about the nature of service design through the workshop. Participant will also help forge a new style of design conferences.
