
A research and development project by Professor Takeshi Kano (Department of Complex and Intelligent Systems), Associate Professor Yasufumi Yamada (Department of Complex and Intelligent Systems), and others has been selected as a newly adopted research and development project under the Japan Science and Technology Agency's (JST) Economic Security and Security Key Technology Development Program (K Program).
The selected research and development project is "Autonomous control and distributed control technology for small unmanned aircraft, etc." from the individual research type project "Autonomous control and distributed control technology for multiple small unmanned aircraft, etc., and detection technology to enhance the safety of airspace use."
This research and development project aims to construct an autonomous distributed control method for small unmanned aircraft by extracting the principles of "negotiation" between individual animals. We will focus on the behavior of humans and bats in avoiding collisions with each other, as well as the sheepdog system in which a small number of sheepdogs guide a large number of sheep, in order to elucidate the principles of "negotiation."
This program will conduct research and development based on the national research and development vision and plan, in order to cultivate cutting-edge technologies that are essential for Japan to maintain a firm position in the international community in the medium to long term.
