The mechanism by which "fluctuations" in spontaneous brain activity determine learning speed has been theoretically elucidated — Learning speed is determined by "fluctuations" and "direction" —

Research

A research group led by Associate Professor Tomoki Kurikawa of Future University Hakodate School of Systems Information Science and Professor Kunihiko Kaneko of the Niels Bohr Institute at the University of Copenhagen has theoretically demonstrated that the speed of learning in neural circuits in the brain is determined by the "fluctuations" and direction of neural activity before learning, and has discovered a new general principle that explains the mechanism of learning.
