Scallop farming facilities managed with IT: Marine IT Project

Research

Having grown up in a family of fishermen, I've been helping out with scallop farming since I was a child. Leveraging that experience, I'm now embarking on a new challenge: installing cameras at scallop farms to monitor the underwater conditions in real time. Previously, fishermen had to launch boats from the harbor to check the farms, but with cameras, they can check the ocean conditions via smartphone, significantly reducing fuel costs and labor time. By attaching cameras to buoys floating on the sea surface and monitoring the growth and movement of the scallops, I aim to create an efficient and environmentally friendly fishing industry.

This research envisions a future where incorporating IT into the fisheries industry makes fishermen's work easier, thus helping to solve the labor shortage.
