Fish Day: Energizing the Fish Town with IT

Research

The student project "Osakana Biyori" (Fish Day) at Future University Hakodate was born from the desire to revitalize Hakodate, a city known for its seafood.

Up until now, under the concept of "turning all of Hakodate into an aquarium," we have been working with local shops to install aquariums in front of their stores. This year, we are further pursuing unique IT-based initiatives that are in line with Future University's style, such as developing an AR app where fish talk to you when you hold your smartphone up to it, and an automatic feeding system.

A key feature of this project is that students are using their interests and strengths to transform ideas into various forms. Thirty members with diverse skills in areas such as programming, design, and hardware are collaborating, learning and growing through practical experience.
