Mirai no Curling: AI supports on-ice strategies

Research

Curling, sometimes called "chess on ice," is a sport where tactics greatly influence the outcome. "Mirai no Curling" is a research project that supports curling with cutting-edge technology. In the curling simulator that we have developed, when a player selects a tactic, the optimal stone trajectory is displayed on the screen, allowing them to play against the AI while visualizing their strategy.

Furthermore, we have developed a tablet stone that incorporates an iPad into an actual ice stone. By analyzing the stone's speed, rotation, and position, and displaying this data on the iPad in real time, players can intuitively grasp the stone's movement on the ice. In addition, the display has been designed so that the screen remains visible in a consistent direction even when the stone rotates.
