OPEN SPACE,
OPEN MIND

Three first-year doctoral students from our university's Graduate School have been selected for the IPA's "Mitou Youth" program, a project focused on unexplored software creation.

Research

Organized by the Information-Technology Promotion Agency (IPA) 2009 The Unexplored Software Creation Project "Unexplored Youth" has solicited project themes, and "HIKARium: A Proposal for a Hemispherical Interface Enabling Interactive Spatial Design," proposed by three first-year doctoral (first stage) students from our university's Graduate School, Mikio Tsuchiya, Hiroshi Kawase, and Maiko Yokomichi, has been selected under the supervision of Project Manager Michiaki Yasumura. There were 87 applications for this call for proposals, and this was one of the 24 themes selected.

"HIKARium: A proposal for a hemispherical interface that enables interactive spatial presentation"

In this project, we proposed "HIKARium," an interface for interactively controlling the lighting and sound of a space. Our aim is to create a new kind of environmental space using unprecedented input devices.
