Kosuke Kato, a fourth-year undergraduate student (Department of Complex and Intelligent Systems, Intelligent System Course),February 18, 2026 February 18, 2026 I gave an oral presentation at the 38th Autonomous Distributed Systems Symposium held at Shizuoka University's Hamamatsu Campus on the 19th, and received the Best Research Encouragement Award in the Exploratory Research Division.
This study mathematically analyzed the interaction of flight movements of bat colonies performing group flight within an observation chamber, and verified a method for reproducing follow-the-lead flight movements using model-based data-driven analysis. The findings from this study are expected to have applications in autonomous flight drones that achieve advanced navigation with simple mechanisms, and it was conducted as part of the Economic Security and Security Key Technology Development Program (K Program) "Development of Guidance and Collision Avoidance Methods for Small Unmanned Aircraft Swarms Learned from Inter-Individual Animal 'Negotiations'."
This award is presented to students or researchers under the age of 30 who give presentations at the Exploratory Session and whose research and presentation content is outstanding.
