Research

Toshiaki Takahashi, a third-year doctoral student (supervisor: Professor Ayahiko NIIMI), 2025 I received the Excellent Research Award from the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence.

The research that received the award was: August 25, 2025 This was presented at the "77th Language Engineering Research Meeting of the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence," held on the 26th at Yamato University (Suita City, Osaka Prefecture).

This research focuses not only on the content of a story, but also on the "discourse"—how the story is told—and explores methods for analyzing this using large-scale language models. By analyzing how stories are told and utilizing the results for structuring narratives, we aim to support computer-aided understanding and creation of stories.

The Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence Research Group Excellence Award recognizes particularly outstanding research presented at the society's research groups, with the aim of encouraging research activities and promoting research presentations at research groups. Originality, academic and technological contributions and their ripple effects, and clarity of presentation are considered, with originality being given particular emphasis.
