Future University Hakodate - Mathematics, Data Science, and AI Education Program
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology is implementing the "Accreditation System for Mathematical Sciences, Data Sciences, and AI Education Programs" for regular courses at universities, junior colleges, and technical colleges in order to promote the development of human resources with a foundation in mathematics, data science, and AI.
The following two programs are accredited at our university:
Future University Hakodate - Mathematics, Data Science, and AI Education Program (Literacy Level)
Skills you can acquire through this program
- Understand the fundamental concepts of data science.
- Understand data science methods such as artificial intelligence.
- You can perform data analysis using a programming language suitable for statistical analysis.
- Understanding the relationship between data science and society, and related topics.
Certification requirements for this program
The following three subjects and six credits are required for certification.
- Introduction to Data Science (2 credits) (1st year undergraduate common subject/elective subject)
- Introduction to Information Technology (2 credits) (1st year, Faculty-wide common subject, required subject)

Skills you can acquire through this program
- Understand data science methods and how to apply them.
- We can solve problems by actually utilizing data science methods.
- You will be able to understand the relationship between the data science techniques you have acquired and more specialized topics.
- Acquire unbiased knowledge and skills in mathematics, data science, and AI.
Certification requirements for this program
The following three subjects and six credits are required for certification.
- Introduction to Data Science (2 credits) (1st year undergraduate common subject/elective subject)
- Introduction to Information Technology (2 credits) (1st year, Faculty-wide common subject, required subject)
- Fundamentals of Programming (2 credits) (1st year, common faculty subject, required subject)
