What is enPiT?
2nd term enPiTEstablishing a training center for IT human resources to support growth fields(abbreviated as enPiT) has been promoting human resource development by utilizing the knowledge and industry-academia network established in the first enPiT "Practical Information Education Collaborative Network across disciplines and regions," with operating bases in the relevant fields cooperating with each other to form an educational network as a unified program. We will continue to provide practical education for undergraduate students in the future.
Following in the footsteps of the first enPiT program, which primarily focused on graduate school students, this new program will primarily target undergraduate students. Universities nationwide are collaborating to offer practical and engaging programs in four areas of information technology: big data/AI, security, embedded systems, and business system design. Through foundational knowledge learning, PBL (Project-Based Learning) fundamentals, and advanced studies, students will learn cutting-edge information technology and hone their practical skills. Furthermore, group work with students from other universities will allow them to acquire essential professional skills such as communication and leadership. We hope that as many students as possible will participate in this enPiT program and go on to become leading engineers and researchers in the future.
Message from CEO
To achieve rapid recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake, address social challenges such as the declining birthrate and aging population, and respond to globalization, as well as to aim for Japan to become a world-leading IT nation, highly skilled IT professionals who can leverage information technology to collaborate across organizations such as national governments, local authorities, and corporations are indispensable. Against this backdrop, Future University Hakodate participated in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's project "Practical Education Network Formation Project for Information Technology Human Resource Development" (2012-2016, Phase 1 enPiT), and has been working to cultivate human resources in the "Business Application Field" for Graduate School students who can lead the solution of social problems and the creation of new value using information technology. This time, in "Formation of a Training Center for Information Technology Human Resources Supporting Growth Fields" (2016-2020, Phase 2 enPiT), we will focus on human resource development in the "Business System Design Field" for undergraduate students. In addition, we will implement human resource development in collaboration with the operational centers for the "Big Data/AI Field," "Security Field," and "Embedded Systems Field," and promote activities to widely disseminate practical education throughout the country. Furthermore, we will continue to provide practical education for Graduate School students, utilizing the knowledge gained from the first phase of enPiT.
At Future University Hakodate, after the mandatory "System Information Science Practical Training (Project Learning)" for third-year undergraduate students (2002-), and the extracurricular "Practical ICT Human Resource Development Course (Endowed Course)" (2007-2010), we transitioned to the regular "Advanced ICT Course," where we are engaged in practical education based on PBL. Following the first enPiT program (2012-2016), this project will also continue to focus on PBL.Business System Design" system will be developed in collaboration with partner and participating schools and other universities to cultivate highly skilled ICT personnel.
We are looking for participating schools that support this initiative and wish to implement PBL basics and advanced learning together with our university.
Program
Learning basic knowledge (basic knowledge about software development)

At Future University or a participating university, students will take programming exercises and lectures on the basics of software development. In the case of Future University, the basics of software development will be covered in "Software Design Theory I."
*If you have already passed the Fundamental Information Technology Engineer Examination, you will also be considered to have mastered these.
Basic knowledge of information design
Required elective subject B (Required elective subject A or B must be taken)
Students will take lectures and Craft-Shops on Human Interfaces and User-Centered Design at Future University or participating universities. At Future University, this would include "Human Interfaces" and "Human Interfaces Workshop."

At Future University or a participating university, students will take part in a PBL course involving system development activities.
