2026 2026 Our open campus event will be held on Saturday, August 1st. This year, we have prepared various programs that will allow you to experience what it's like to learn at Future University and interact with current students. We will post updates on this page as they become available.

1. Information Design Course: "The First Lessons Learned in the Information Design Course"
Let me introduce the first exercise you'll take in the Information Design Course as a second-year student. Design requires both creative ideas that excite the user and meticulous design that prioritizes usability and clarity. In this exercise, you will experience how to integrate these elements. You will conceive of an imaginary creature based on the traditions and legends of your hometown, and then create a working prototype of that creature that you can interact with. Finally, you will present your creation using the prototype.

2. Information Systems Course: "Exploring Astrophysics through Information Systems"
Understanding mysterious and complex phenomena in the universe, such as black holes and supernova explosions, leads to an understanding of the universe itself and the physical laws that govern it. In recent years, advances in information science have made it possible to study complex astrophysical phenomena using large-scale numerical simulations and data analysis. In this lecture, I will introduce my research in high-energy astrophysics, focusing on explosive phenomena in the universe. I will also discuss how information science is contributing to unraveling the mysteries of the universe and advancing human knowledge.

3. Complex Systems Course: "Measure, Build, and Understand: Bat Ultrasonic Navigation"
Are you familiar with bat echolocation? Bats emit ultrasonic pulses and analyze the reflected sounds (echoes) to perceive their surroundings in three dimensions, even in darkness. While this "sound-based vision" technology has been applied to engineering systems, it still falls short of the bat's ability to highly coordinate flight and acoustic sensing. This lecture will introduce cutting-edge biomimetics (biomimicry) research based on bat echolocation, which is driven by three pillars: biological measurement, mathematical modeling, and field verification.

4. Intelligent Systems Course: "Research on Giving Computers 'Eyes' – From Image Recognition to VR Medicine"
Technologies that allow computers to understand images, such as facial recognition in smartphones and autonomous driving, are being used in many everyday applications. This lecture will explore the theme of "How do computers 'see'?" and provide a clear explanation of the fundamental concepts of image analysis and pattern recognition. Furthermore, we will introduce research examples that are currently being worked on, such as technologies for creating 3D models of medical images like CT and MRI scans, and medical education systems utilizing VR and 360-degree video.

Our admissions staff will explain the entrance examination process at Future University, including providing data and other relevant information.

We will be offering a special menu for the open campus event at the cafeteria that Future University students normally use.

Free shuttle bus
Free shuttle buses will operate from various cities throughout Hokkaido and from stations near Hakodate (reservations required). Since bus seating is limited, please apply as soon as registration opens.
