Career support

With the rapid development and expanding use of information and communication technology (ICT), there is a strong demand for personnel with specialized knowledge and skills in ICT.
At our university, students study within the academic field of Systems Information Science and can develop advanced expertise in areas such as interaction, design, media, software, security, complex systems science, mathematical modeling, AI, data science, and robotics. Another distinctive feature of the program is its emphasis on group-based learning through communication courses and project-based learning, which helps students develop the practical skills needed to address real-world challenges.
In addition, the university has established a comprehensive career support system through which faculty and staff collaboratively provide practical support tailored to each student’s career aspirations.

Career Guidance

Our year-round career guidance program, held once a week, is built around the themes of “Knowing Yourself,” “Knowing Others,” and “Knowing the Process.” The program offers practical Craft-Shops on self-analysis, resume writing, industry, job, and company research, written examination preparation, interview preparation and mock interviews, and business etiquette. Through these Craft-Shops, students receive strong support from initial career planning through the job-hunting process itself. Of course, students of all grades are welcome to attend, not just those in the job-seeking year group.
Professional Certification Support
The Fundamental Information Technology Engineer Examination, administered by the Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA), is a nationally recognized certification examination in information and communication technology. Future University Hakodate is accredited to offer an approved exemption program for the Subject A examination and provides students with opportunities to complete the coursework and sit for the qualifying examination on campus.
Internships and Workplace Training
At Future University Hakodate, internships are regarded as an important form of practical workplace experience. The university offers a “Corporate Internship” course within the formal curriculum, and students who complete approved internships may earn academic credit. In addition, the university supports students by coordinating with host companies and providing information about internship opportunities. During the summer break, more than half of eligible students participate in internships and gain valuable experience in professional settings.
Career Support Office
The university has established a Career Support Office to collect and provide employment-related information and services for students.
- Information on job postings, company brochures, company information sessions, recruitment events, professional certifications, and related topics (the same information is also available online).
- Career and employment consultation services
- Access to private booths for online job interviews and recruitment activities
On-campus joint seminar - FUN Career -

Centered primarily on companies that have previously hired graduates of the university, this event features on-campus booths where students can obtain firsthand information about industries, job types, and companies. Approximately 100 companies from a wide range of industries participate on a rotating daily basis. For many students, this event serves as an important opportunity to make connections that may lead to future employment and to develop a clearer vision of their career paths.
In addition, the event is open not only to students preparing to begin their job search, such as third-year undergraduate students and first-year master’s students, but to all students at the university. This provides valuable opportunities for students to explore companies and broaden their perspectives on future career paths from an early stage.
