Dr. Eng.Research Projects
Our research aims to make people happy through software. We primarily focus on application software that directly supports human intellectual activities. These intellectual activities include software development, documentation, tourism, web-based information dissemination, e-portfolios, and translation. Furthermore, we conduct research using open standards technologies such as DITA (a technical documentation standard) and Linked Open Data (LOD), as well as open-source software such as web content management systems (CMS) and software development support tools.
The appeal of research
The results of this research will become "tools" that people use when performing their work and various activities. The quality of these tools can make a huge difference in productivity. The quality of a tool is determined by integrating various elements such as the concept, architecture, technologies used, implementation methods, and user interface. The appeal of this research lies in being able to consider and create all of these elements as a system.
Achievements
While working at a company, I was involved in research and development on the application of genetic algorithms to production process scheduling, research and development of a system that performs automated farm work based on maps created by GIS in conjunction with GPS-enabled autonomous tractors (Agricultural Robot Project), and research and development of open-source web service middleware (OpenSOAP Project). I was also involved in the development of commercial web systems and the standardization of development processes in system development projects. At the university, I have been continuously involved in training practical software engineers through industry-academia collaboration. As part of the core PBL (Project-Based Learning) program, I am also involved in the construction of systems such as smartphone applications that provide tourism information and digital archives, as well as related research.

Research Contents
The goal of my research is making people happy with software. The main target is the application software that supports the intellectual activities of human. Such activities include: software development, documentation, tourism activity, information provision on the Web, e-portfolio, translation, etc. The technologies for supporting the activities include: a standard of a technical documentation, DITA; a standard of open data, Linked Open Data (LOD); Web content management system (CMS); tools for software development.
Attractive Factors of My Research
The result of research becomes the tool used when people perform work and various activities.
The quality of the tool has a very large influence on the productivity.
The quality of the tool results from the integration of various elements: concept, architecture, technologies used, implementation, user interface, etc. The appeal of this research is to create such a tool by considering it comprehensively as a system.
Achievements
Research and development at the companies: an application of the genetic algorithm to the production process scheduling, an automated farming system based on the maps generated by GIS in cooperation with an autonomous tractor navigated by GPS (agricultural robot project), open source middleware for the Web services (OpenSOAP project), B2C Web systems, standardization of the system development process, etc.
Research and education at the university: development of software engineers by PBL in cooperation with industry, development of smartphone apps for tourists (PBL), development of a digital archive system, etc.
