I have been interested in technologies that contribute to the high functionality of robots, and in particular, I have been working on realizing sensor systems that are important for robots to perceive their surrounding environment. Recently, I have also become interested in the real-world applications of robots and the use of technologies cultivated in the field of robotics in other fields.
The appeal of research
The greatest appeal of robotics research lies in creating things that move in the real world. The process of integrating mechanisms, sensors, computers, and software operating at various levels to create a system that moves right before your eyes is what makes robotics research so fascinating.
