Job introductions
We conduct research and development on various interactive devices that span the real world and the Web, focusing on "everyday object interfaces" that subtly support daily life by incorporating sensors and computers into familiar everyday items. Examples include the belt-type haptic navigation system "Active Belt" that allows you to reach your destination without looking at a map, "TagTansu," a mashup closet that connects clothing to the Web and digitizes clothes simply by hanging them on a hook, and "EaTheremin," a fork-shaped device that plays various sounds while you eat depending on the type of food. Our "SpeechJammer," a device that remotely disrupts human speech, won the Ig Nobel Prize (Acoustics) in 2012. Furthermore, we aim for a socially participatory research style that focuses on middleware that supports the "how to make" of these interactive devices, "how to use" them such as product commercialization and social deployment, and "how to collect" knowledge that involves society.
