Personal HistoryDr. Ei-Ichi Osawa received a B.S. in mathematics from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1982 and Ph.D. in computer science from Keio University in 1996. After he completed his undergraduate study, he joined Sony Corporation, and later Sony Computer Science Laboratories, Inc. Since the year 2000, he has been a professor in artificial intelligence at Future University Hakodate (FUN), and was the dean of the Graduate School of Systems Information Science at FUN. He received several awards from IPSJ (Information Processing Society of Japan) and JSAI (Japan Society for Artificial Intelligence) for his research achievements in these research areas. He has long been served for many international conference including IJCAI (International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence), ICMAS (International Conference on Multi Agent Systems), and AAMAS (International Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems) as a program committee member and/or a reviewer. Also, he served for AAMAS-06 as the local organization chair. Additionally, he was a member of the board of trustees of JSSST from 2006 to 2010. And currently he is a member of the board of trustees of IPSJ (Information Processing Society of Japan).

His general research interests include open distributed computing systems, multiagent organization, massively multiagent systems, multi robot coordination, interface agents, and complex network.

Attractive Factors of My Research

Viewing a large scale distributed computing environment, i.e. Internet, as a combination of multiagent systems and complex network is especially useful, and will lead to develop interesting applications.


Modelling an opportunistic collaborative planning scheme in open distributed environment, and a meta-level organization scheme in multiagent systems.
