I participated in the Advanced ICT Workshop (formerly a sponsored course) from the second semester of my second year of university. I would like to mention just two points about what I found beneficial about participating.
The first point is that you will have the opportunity to participate in real projects (with clients). Opportunities to directly listen to clients are things you can never learn just by attending lectures. You will develop the ability to think about what is important through conversations with clients and to make it happen.
The second point is that it provides an opportunity to experience manufacturing as a team. Students can experience creating something that could never be made alone, working together with others, and become aware of the difficulties involved. I want them to experience the joy of completing a manufacturing project to the end with teammates who can support each other when mistakes occur. The appeal of the Advanced ICT Exercises lies in the fact that students can independently pursue these activities while receiving guidance from companies and teachers.
