Open Data Initiatives
With the remarkable advancements in information and communication technology, a society where "everyone can effectively utilize necessary information through the internet" is on the horizon. To realize this society, local governments and public organizations are promoting the disclosure of public information.
Open data refers to "data published in a machine-readable format with usage rules that allow for secondary use," and "data that can be reused with minimal human effort." In other words, it refers to data that anyone can freely copy, process, and distribute within the scope of the permitted rules.
Hakodate City is actively working to make various public information available as open data. At Future University Hakodate, activities are being carried out to promote open data in the region and to develop technologies for utilizing open data.
