Effect
1. Future University Hakodate (hereinafter referred to as "the University") establishes the following open access policy (hereinafter referred to as "this policy") with the aim of contributing to the further development of academic research and returning those results to society by widely disseminating research results from the University both inside and outside the university.
Publication of research results
2. The University of Hakodate will make available research results published by researchers affiliated with the University (hereinafter referred to as "researchers") in academic journals issued by publishers, academic societies, etc. (hereinafter referred to as "research results") through the Future University Hakodate repository or other methods selected by the researchers. However, the copyright of the research results will not be transferred to the University of Hakodate.
Exceptions to application
3. Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, if disclosure is inappropriate for unavoidable reasons such as copyright infringement, the University will not disclose the research results in question.
Non-retroactive application
4. This policy does not apply to research results published before the implementation of this policy, or to research results for which contracts conflicting with this policy were concluded before the implementation of this policy.
Repository Management
5. Matters concerning the registration and publication of research results in the repository shall be handled in accordance with the "Future University Hakodate Repository Handling Guidelines."
Other Information
6. In addition to what is set forth in this policy, any other matters necessary regarding open access shall be determined through consultation among the relevant parties.
Purpose
1 Future University Hakodate (hereinafter referred to as “the University”) stipulates the following Open Access Policy (hereinafter referred to as “the Policy”) with the aim of contributing to the further development of academic research and returning its outcomes to society by widely disseminating research results both within and outside the University.
Publication of Research Results
2. The research results (hereinafter referred to as “research results”) produced by researchers (hereinafter referred to as “researchers”) affiliated with the University, which have been published in academic journals issued by publishers, academic societies, or similar organizations, may be made publicly available through the Future University Hakodate Institutional Repository or other methods selected by the researchers. However, the copyright of such research results shall not be transferred to the University.

3 Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, research results shall not be disclosed if deemed inappropriate due to unavoidable reasons such as copyright restrictions, etc.
Non-Retroactive Application
4 This Policy shall not apply to research results published prior to the enforcement or to research results subject to contracts concluded before the enforcement of this Policy that conflict with its provisions.
Repository Operation
5 Matters related to the registration and publication of research results in the repositories shall be handled in accordance with the “Future University Hakodate Repository Procedures”.
Others
6 In addition to what is stipulated in this policy, matters necessary related to open access will be determined through consultation among the parties concerned.
