Five Research Fields

Media Architecture

Research in this field aims at the implementation of information systems that focus primarily on the ‘human element’ rather than simply sending and receiving information. Students can learn how to skillfully develop information systems, and how to pursue effective processes to ensure performance and safety.

Advanced ICT

We offer an educational system that can broaden the potential in each student through established cooperation between the University and industries. Students can experience the process by which problems in society are analyzed, and then determine solutions that are supported by information communication technologies. Subsequently, students can truly appreciate the potential of ICT.

Media Design

The challenge in this field is the construction of new relationships between artificial media and people, and the issues involved in creating designs that fit human behavior. By connecting a wide range of diverse fields of study, such as research on technology for human-computer interaction, students can develop a broad understanding of the expressive potential of all kinds of media.

Complex Systems Information Science

This field challenges students to develop innovative information processing engineering techniques to predict and control interconnected large-scale systems, based on the study of information science and mathematical science. Cross-departmental joint research is strongly encouraged.

Intelligent Information and Science

In this field, students can learn how to realize human-like intelligences using robots and computers. Students create models based on knowledge gained from interdisciplinary thinking, and the study and understanding of human intelligence.
