    The successful applicant is required to conduct empirical research on human intellectual activities based on investigation and experiments in the field (quantitative and/or qualitative studies are acceptable)
    Although not limited to the following fields, specifically, we welcome experience in;
    – Psychology (Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Ecological Psychology, Disorder Psychology, Clinical Psychology, etc.)
    – Sociology (Cognitive Science, Interaction Analysis, Ethnomethodology, Ethnography, etc.)
    – Pedagogy (Educational Technology, Learning Science, Learning Environment Design, Special Support Education, etc.)
    – Anthropology (Cultural Anthropology, Social Anthropology, Linguistic Anthropology, etc.)
    – Human-Computer Interaction (User Interface, User Experience, Usability, Human Factors, Human Error, etc.)
    – Accessibility (Information Design, Information Assurance, Assistive Technology, Research on People with Disabilities and the Elderly, etc.)
    – Other related fields (e.g., Cultural Studies, Media Studies, Gender Studies, Feminist Studies, Research Ethics, Medical Ethics, Medical Safety, Welfare/Caregiving, Nursing Studies, etc.)
  4. Subjects to be Taught and Required Duties
    <For Undergraduate School>
    – The successful applicant is required to teach about four subjects per year as listed below in Japanese depending on the area of expertise. Certain subjects are undertaken as team teaching collaborating with other faculty members.
    – Cognitive Psychology/Practice of Cognitive Psychology, Human Interface/Practice of Human Interface, Workplace Theory, Computer and Education, Communication Theory, Basic Information Expression I, Modern Design, etc.
    – Project-Based Learning (for the third year of undergraduate school, year-round, team teaching)
    – Graduation Study (for the fourth year of undergraduate school, year-round)
    <For Graduate School>
    – The successful applicant is required to teach one or more subjects depending on the area of expertise.
    <Other Duties>
    – Both associate professors and professors preside over and manage their research laboratory independently.
    – All faculty members are required to undertake duties related to university administration and education affairs.

  5. Eligibility
    – The candidate must be female.
    – The candidate must hold a doctoral degree by the time of employment.
    – The candidate must have excellent research achievements in their field of expertise.
    – The candidate must have sufficient capability and enthusiasm for education and research guidance for undergraduate and graduate students, and for undertaking related duties across the university.
    – The candidate must have an interest in Information Science and Design, and be capable of promoting education and research across these fields.
    – The candidate must understand the role of the public university, and is able to enthusiastically work on collaborations with the local community and undertake research in the local area.
  6. Starting Date of Employment
    – between April 1st 2026 – April 1st 2027
  7. Documents to be Submitted (either in Japanese or English)
    (1) Specify the following:
             – Applying affiliation: Information Design Course
             – Applying post: Associate professor or professor
             – Research field(s) able to supervise
    (2) Curriculum Vitae (including attached photograph, current address, contact numbers (telephone and e-mail), academic history (after high school graduation), employment history, research experience, academic associations and/or memberships, degree(s), rewards, and punishments (if applicable) etc.).
    (3) List of Research Achievements (such as research papers, publications, vocational achievements (such as patents and awards in field or expertise, etc.)), and List of External Research Funding Acquisition.
    (4) Details of Three Major Achievements from the List of Research Achievements and enclose a reprint or copy for each. Explain the reason for choosing the three selected major achievements (in 900 characters or less in Japanese / 500 words or less in English).
    (5) Educational Achievements (human resource development is acceptable in the case of companies).
    (6) Research Outline and Future Research Plans. The document must be within two pages of A4 sized paper (English version / translation is required if the document is submitted in Japanese).
    (7) Educational Aspirations such as those pertaining to teaching/supervising (one page of A4 sized paper).
    (8) Details of Two Referees including their names, affiliations, contact addresses (postal address, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses).

Moreover, the application documents will be securely destroyed after the screening process regardless of whether the application is successful or not.

  10. Screening Method and Place of Interview
    – Upon submission all application documents will be screened. If the applicant passes the document screening, an interview will be held at Future University Hakodate.
    – Interviews will be held during June 2025.
    – Applicants are responsible for transportation and other expenses associated with the interview screening process.
    – If selected for interview, the candidate may be asked to give a presentation of research and teaching experience, Q&A session, mock lecture, etc.
    – Comments obtained from referees’ may be referred to if necessary.
