We specifically welcome candidates with backgrounds of any of followings relating to Systems Information Sciences:
– Information Systems (Data Science, HCI,Information Network, Social Cooperation Information System,Software, Perceptual Information Processing, etc.)
– Information Design (Media, Art, Design, Cognitive Science, etc.)
– Complex Systems (Non-linear Science, Mathematical Modeling, Machine Learning, Neuroscience, Biophysics, Game Theory, etc.)
– Intelligent Systems (Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Music Informatics, Natural Language Processing, Swarm Intelligence, etc.) - Subjects to be Taught and Required Duties
<Subjects to be taught>
– The successful applicant is required to teach about two subjects per year from among practices in Math-related, Programming-related, Design-related, etc. in Japanese
– Project-Based-Learning (for the third year of undergraduate school, year-round “Practice of Systems Information Science 3”, team teaching)
<Required Duties>
– The successful applicant is required to undertake duties related to university administration and operation of committee and entrance exam, etc. - Eligibility
– The candidate must hold a doctoral degree (including equivalent degrees conferred in foreign countries) by the time of employment.
– The candidate must have excellent research achievements in their field of expertise.
– The candidate must understand the role of the public university, and is able to enthusiastically work on collaboration with the local community and undertake research in the local area. - Starting Date of Employment
Adjustment will be made for the period from April 1, 2026 to April 1, 2027. - Documents to be Submitted (either in Japanese or English)
(1) Curriculum Vitae (including attached photograph, current address, contact numbers (telephone and email), academic history (after high school graduation), employment history, research experience, academic association and/or memberships, degree(s), rewards and punishments)
(2) List of research achievements (such as research papers, publications, art works, patents, vocational achievements), awards history, list of external research funding acquisition
(3) Details of three major achievements from the list of research achievements and enclose a reprint or copy for each. Explain the reasons for choosing the three selected as major achievements (in 900 characters or less in Japanese / 400 words or less in English). Attach a copy of newspaper article as a reference if necessary.
(4) List of achievements other than research (educational achievements, work experiences, etc.)
(5) Research outlines and future research plans. The document must be within two pages of A4 sized paper (English version is required if the document is submitted in Japanese)
(6) Educational aspirations (one page of A4 sized paper)
(7) Details of two referees including their names, affiliations, contact (addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses)

– Upon submission all application documents will be screened. If the applicant passes the document screening, an interview will be held at Future University Hakodate.
– Interview will be held between December 15-19, 2025.
– Applicants are responsible for transportation and other expenses associated with the interview screening process.
– If selected for interview, the candidate may be asked to give presentation about research achievements, achievements other than research, future research plan, and educational aspirations.

(Mentor System)
– A mentoring system is adopted whereby professors support the activities of research associate at Future University Hakodate. The mentor is decided by the chair of the course in consultation with the applicant.
(Tenure-Track System)
– Promotion to Associate Professor (no tenure) will be reviewed by the fourth year of appointment. Moreover, the review for promotion will also take into consideration your aptitude for teaching at the university.
(Common Language on Campus)
– Japanese is the official language on campus.
– The faculty meeting is conducted in Japanese, but the materials are available in both Japanese and English.
– Emails such as administrative communications are available in both Japanese and English.Message from the President
