Research Contents

Knowledge science is a new field established in the 2000’s as an interdisciplinary school between information science, cognitive science and social sciences. My particuler field is the study of knowledge society system to cross human and societal factors. I am studying on indivisual/collective/organizational factors, local community existence and the role of science and technology within today’s societal environment. In detail the issues shown as below are conducted:

• University-Government-Industry relations within regional contexts
• Science communication activities of research organizations
• Engineering ethics
• CSR activities in the field of science and technology
• Music and creative cognition
• Musical expertise
• Study of social system and smart city

Attractive Factors of My Research

Knowledge society is where individuals (or artifacts or societal environment) are mutually connected with open network, and the possibility of intelligent activities are developed and enhanced on the basis of information society. Human brains can utilize not only the knowledge inside but also outside, applying various archiving database and also human information from others. The “knowledge” has now become “rights” for people, that can enlarge possibilities of indivisuald and societies on one hand and also can shake them on the other hand. Knowledge-based innovations such as “smart city” and “big data” enable new methods of solutions on one hand, open knowledge networks emphasize serious conflicts about religious, races, thoughts, poverty and economic disparity. One of the crucial missions and attractiveness of knowledge science is to understand such positive and negative factors of knowledge society, analyze the true value of it and design the future society.

Achievements

After 20 yeas career as a PR consultant mainly in the science and technology related field, I turned to academic career using my professional talents. In the early 2000’s I made a comparative study of regional innovation between several regions in Europe and Japan and present papers at famous international conferences such as EGOS (European Group of Organizational Study) and Uddevalla Symposium. In the later 2000’s I started to study a new field of science communication in relation to my professional career and also presented papers at international conferences such as PCST (Public Communication of Science and Technology). Off course I published papers at many academic societies in Japan such as Japan Cognitive Science Society, Japan Society for Corporate Communication Studies, Japan Society for Business Ethics Study and The Japan Association of Regional Policy.

Besides, I have been appointed to the several committee of national and regional governments for policy making activities. Since 2009 I have been a committee member of Hakodate Science Festival to empower local community to become knowledge-driven community.
